# Plans and credits

> How Jam's plan is priced, what work credits buy, the free trial, and what happens when a plan ends.

## The plan

You build one plan from four choices. The price page and `get_pricing` (`GET /v1/pricing`, no key needed) show the monthly price of every combination.

| Choice | Options |
| - | - |
| Prompt capacity | 50 to 1,000 prompts, in steps of 50. |
| Scan cadence | Weekly, every other day, or daily. |
| Platforms | ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews and Microsoft Copilot are included. Claude is an add-on. |
| Work credits | 1,000, 2,000, 5,000 or 10,000 a month. |

Send `promptCapacity`, `cadence`, `platforms` or `workCredits` to `get_pricing` for a quote on one combination.

## Free trial

An account that has never had a Jam subscription gets a 14-day free trial. Checkout asks for a card, and the first charge is at the end of the trial. An account that had a subscription before is charged at checkout.

## What credits buy

Scans are covered by the plan and use no credits. Work Jam does for you spends credits from the monthly allowance:

| Work | Credits |
| - | - |
| Draft a new page | Metered: what its writing actually cost. About 45 for a one-shot draft, about 65 when Jam researches and writes it as an agent. Nothing is charged when no page is saved. |
| Open a pull request | 20, kept only if the pull request opens. |
| Research again | 500, kept only if the run succeeds. The first run is free. |
| Read an article brief | Included. |
| Visibility scans | Included. |

These are the figures `get_pricing` returns in `creditCosts`; read it for the current numbers. A tool that spends credits says what it costs at the start of its description.

When the first research run finishes, Jam drafts up to three of the top new pages by itself, once per project, from the plan's credits.

## Your balance

`get_credits` (`GET /v1/credits`) shows the balance, the allowance, when it resets, and recent charges. Each charge has a plain `description`, and `spend: false` when it is bookkeeping rather than work. A request that needs more credits than you have answers `402 insufficient_credits`. Buy more credits, or turn on top-up, in **Settings**, **Billing**.

## When a plan ends

The workspace becomes read only: reads keep working, and writes answer `402 plan_inactive` until the plan is resumed. Every `402` carries `resolveUrl`, the dashboard page where a person fixes it.

`get_billing` returns the plan state, whether the key's owner can manage billing (`canManage`, workspace owners only), and links to manage billing, resume the plan, buy credits and change the plan. The API never charges a card or opens a checkout itself: a person does that on those pages.
